Dr. Shahab Akvan is a board-certified cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon, garnering more than a decade of extensive training, experience, and steadfast commitment to patient-centered care. Dr. Akvan received his Medical Degree from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA, in 2008, and further developed his skills in general surgery during residency at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.
Dr. Akvan completed cardiothoracic surgery training at the Texas Heart Institute and Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX in 2016. During his time in Houston, Dr. Akvan also acquired experience in caring for patients with thoracic cancer through training at the renowned MD Anderson Cancer Center. Adding to his expertise, Dr. Akvan obtained complex vascular surgeries training, including open aortic surgery and endovascular aneurysm repair, in Longview, TX.In 2022, Dr. Akvan received the Patient Choice Award in Longview, TX. This recognition is further underscored by Dr. Akvan's notable publications, which showcase his commitment to advancing surgical techniques and enhancing patient care.
Dr. Akvan resides in Wichita Falls with his loving wife and two daughters, along with his parents who offer invaluable support.
